Snow Day

Today, my world is white.  There’s close to two feet of snow on the ground now, and it’s still coming down – fast, driven sideways by the wind.

From the window, my view is obscured by drifts, but I can see that the world has shut down.

No cars in the street…only the muffled sound of children making the most of this fresh coating of imagination.  With it, they’ll make castles and forts and pretend to fight long ago battles – but with snowballs not bullets.

I’m happy, warm…inside.  My morning newspaper was delivered in the wee hours sometime. It’s buried somewhere on my front path.

Who cares? I’ll read my book, the one I got for Christmas that I’ve been meaning to pick up and start.

I’m happy that the world has stopped, if just for a day. A forced period of rest, quiet.

I wish people everywhere could have a snow day.

thanks, jeff. snow is a blessing -- mostly when you're looking at it from inside. ha ha.

thanks for dropping by buddy. well, i learned a new word from you. i take pictures of my trip because most of the time, my readers and i, myself, am cooped up in the confines of the city. pictures can transport one into places that exist faraway or moments that take place only for a few minutes or hours. and as with most of people i climb with, they relish looking at sights that seem to have escaped them because they were so busy to stop and drink in the sights. i used to think of mysef as a bit bizarre because there's nothing i like better than to sit still, hear the wind, try to hear the trees murmur, listen to flow of water, connect to the earth. while there's nothing quite like experiencing it firsthand, i guess my pictures are an attempt to share the experience. God bless!

hey buddy,

got your note. "ADMG" or Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (For the greater glory of God) is a Jesuit ideal as always been mentioned by our founder, St. Ignatius of Loyola. That is everything we do, we do "magis" (more)...more prayer, more love, more service, for His greater glory.

Yes, God doesn't need our praises but we participate in His creation. We participate in his glory. In this way, we become better person, more loving and more sensitive.

Thanks and take care.

hey buddy, it's the day of hearts as hallmark may profess but may peace and love reign not just on one day but all throughout the year.
